Drone intros, dizzying internal rhymes, yelling about Coldplay, raps about doing mushrooms on the floor of your room…all in a day’s work for Queens MC Big Baby Gandhi. BBG raps about normal stuff, but does so in a way that makes it seem like you’re hearing it for the first time even if he’s just talking about getting drunk while yelling the word “Swag” a lot. It’s a pretty perfect analog for what it seems that Gandhi is trying to accomplish, this de-naturalization of the American experience. Beyond that, NO1 2 LOOK UP 2 is yet another example of the continued resurgence of New York rap.
