Highland Goes for a Climb with New Hiking Gear

Season after season, it's hard not to feel like we're cramming into a rusty hatchback with designer Lizzie Owens as she takes a roadtrip across the American frontier, tagging along as she stops at various sites and then beautifully refashions the ways the local cool dudes dress for her menswear brand Highland. We've trolled the suburbs, hung on the quad at a liberal arts college and hit the Appalachian Trail. Now, for Fall 2013, we're deep and dark in the snowy woods. Inspired by the Stonemasters, a crew of '70s California rock climbers that formed out of a "collective desire to live free without constraint," Owens explores an archetype of stoner-y, ragamuffin American male-ness with a collection of shearling vests, long johns worn as pants and a killer take on a Grateful Dead tee. It's a lookbook so sweet it'll satiate us just long enough until Owens' next big trip.
