The legacy of influential Chicago footwork pioneer DJ Rashad, who tragically died in April, will be celebrated at this year's upcoming Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn. The festival, which is scheduled to kick off the weekend of August 23, will hold a musical tribute to Rashad starring TekLife co-founder and Rashad's former partner DJ Spinn, footwork legend RP Boo, Lit City Trax boss J-Cush, footwork dance crew The Era and DJ Deeon, along with other guests. “Rashad was a kind soul that left an indelible mark on the music world as the torchbearer of footwork and juke," said his manager Wes Harden at the time of Rashad's passing. "Rest assured that all of those close to him will make sure that the legacy lives on for a great man whose life has been cut far too short.”
