Willow Smith Takes Control on “Your Love V2”

#ProtectWillow

October 03, 2014

Around midnight, Willow Smith dropped the latest in her string of warm, experimental ballads, including the extraterrestrial "8" and a bittersweet cover of King Krule's "Easy, Easy." "Your Love V2" is almost uncomfortably intimate coming from such a young voice, but she approaches the broad arrangement with convincing control: wire-thin falsettos and a bellow-deep bridge spread over modest cabana funk via The xx's "Basic Space." Too bad we don't never see each other, too baaaaad, my emotions change like the weather, and I'm saaaad, the going-on-fourteen-year-old vents: The Raincoats meet Winehouse, from the mouth of babes.
