Perfume Genius Skates On Gold In The Video For “Fool”

Stylized, subtle commentary for the Too Bright clip.

I tither and coo like a cartoon/ I congratulate you when I leave the room. Perfume Genius' Michael Hadreas sings those lines on Too Bright highlight "Fool," a song that deals with the condescension and stereotypes the queer community faces in situations as seemingly innocuous as parties and social gatherings. The song's accompanying video features eye-catching, stylized imagery that's gone hand-in-hand with the Too Bright clips—there's Hadreas sailing through the aisles of an off-license in gold rollerblades, as well as some winged, beaked dancers shaking their artificial plumage—and near the video's end the song's central theme comes into view, as Hadreas shakes his figurative moneymaker atop a judges' table, foreign currency raining down on his body.
