Let Aïsha Devi’s Hi-Fi Shamanism Lull You Into A Trance

The Swiss producer wants to distract you from the ills of society with her hypnotic synths.

Swiss-born, half-Nepalese producer Aïsha Devi—fka Kate Wax—has a new EP on the way that's all about spirituality and femininity, and to make that crystal clear, she's titled it Conscious Cunt. More specifically, in a press release, she details that it's about: “sluts, awareness, death, and women in a patriarchal society… enlightenment, violence, resistance, mothers, daughters, consciousness, Guy Debord, Vedas and eternity. It's also a high-five to my grandmother who raised me and passed away early this year.”

The EP's trance-like first single "Kim & The Wheel of Life" elaborates on these themes. Devi tells The FADER: "This track's about the hypnosis of masses via materialistic icons, alienation from the society versus resistance through self-teaching and spirituality. Inducing liberation from dogma and indoctrination through a collective and active trance. I've produced the repetitive pattern on the Roland JP 8080, a synth that basically shaped Euro-dance anthems. I love this machine, the massive brightness of its frequencies has the ability to stimulate higher consciousness and open the crown chakra. Hi-fi shamanism." Get hypnotized below, and look out for Conscious Cunt's release on July 24th, with a debut album to follow later this year on Houndstooth.
