Timbaland is looking to make some noise in 2016. At the end of last year, he released a new memoir and a mixtape that featured a slew of guests, including Young Thug, 2 Chainz, and Mila J. More recently, he suggested that young producers are lacking compared to their elder counterparts. "I don’t think we have producers anymore," he told Hot 97. "I think we have great programmers. Beats are not made how we used to do them; I think they come as a package... I take patterns, layers and blend the colors. People don’t even know how to make their own snares anymore."
Timbaland followed this salvo today with "Don't Get No Betta," the first taste of a new album that he's expected to release later this year. The track finds the producer reuniting with Mila J for a lover's duet. Instead of rapping as he usually does, Timbo works with a technologically altered croon. The video is filled with skin, sweat, and mist. This could last forever, Mila sings. It don't get no better.
