“I wanted the audience to sense the vibe of the music, relating to the visual, rather than painting a more traditional narrative.”

Quiet R&B singer Amir Obe hides in a wash of deep blue and warm crimson light in the saturnine two act video for "The Only" and "V.I.P.," both tracks off his December tape Happening In The Grey Area.

Directed by PARTYNEXTDOOR affiliate Adrian Martinez and produced by The FADER, the four and a half minute visual opens with Obe alone on the beach and closes with him in the neon glow of a night club, where's he's alone save for the company of a dancer. All the while, his face is ever-obscured in the shadows.

"I wanted the audience to sense the vibe of the music, relating to the visual, rather than painting a more traditional narrative," Obe wrote of the shadowy video in an email to The FADER. "The visuals incorporate a mashup of 'The Only' and 'VIP,' both songs which set a perfect contrast to one another both musically and visually."
