On Saturday, Killer Mike shared a very congenial open letter to Michael Jordan, in which the Atlanta rapper thanked Jordan for his $2 million donation to the NAACP and police-community relations divisions. He also urged the basketball legend to deposit profits from the "Olympic" Air Jordan 5, which drops August 20, into a black-owned financial institution.

"We know that with your example other players will follow," he wrote. "I'm sure Jim Brown, Kareem and Bill Russell will agree. Love ya man. U truly were/are the greatest."

In the same post, Killer Mike repeated his call for the general public to open their own accounts with black-owned banks, and offered a guide on how to do so. "That way these shoes are a tool for your empowerment and not something that chains you into poverty," he said.

Killer Mike's previous praise of Citizens Trust Bank led to a significant surge in new accounts for the Atlanta Bank.
