"Sauce!" is a travel diary of sorts. Produced by Ithaca's Evan Stein, and featuring Atlanta rapper Rome Fortune and Ithaca singer Eyukaliptus, it's a mix of R&B and soul, and jumps straight into a hard beat before suddenly shifting into something more melodic —very much like the transition from an urban cityscape to a small town. With the addition of Rome Fortune's bars and Eyukaliptus' ethereal vocals, it makes for an unexpected but pleasing combination.
"Eyukaliptus and I had been going back and forth working on demos in Ithaca, when the track initially began," Stein told The FADER via email. "We were attempting to capture the sleepy upstate town's vibes. During this time I had the opportunity to reach out to Rome Fortune, whom Tyler and I were mutual fans of. The song took a backseat when we both moved — I spent the semester in London, while Eyukaliptus moved to Chicago. After we both relocated back in Ithaca, we began adding some final touches to the track, incorporating elements from within both the London and Chicago music scenes, where we had learned and lived."
