Hear Velvet Negroni’s delightfully wonky new single “KURT KOBAIN”

Off his forthcoming debut album NEON BROWN.

August 12, 2019

Velvet Negroni is the project of Minneapolis artist Jeremy Nutzman. He's currently on tour with Tame Impala, last week he guested on Bon Iver's new album i,i, and we're mere weeks away from the arrival of his 4AD debut, NEON BROWN. Ahead of that, today, he's sharing the record's third single, "KURT KOBAIN." Much like "Spiceworld" off his 2017 project T.C.O.D., the song has little to do with the pop cultural deity it's named after; rather, it's a splotchy jam that dips into the deep, funkier side of the project.

"KURT KOBAIN" arrives with a Kron-directed video that does a nice job of capturing Velvet Negroni's warped sonic wilderness. Check it out above, and then be sure to read our recent conversation with Nutzman over here to get the full story on how NEON BROWN came to be.
