Will Smith is spearheading a new spinoff of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In a new Hollywood Reporterprofile, Tatiana Siegel writes that Westbrook (Smith's new multimedia venture with wife Jada Pinkett Smith) is plotting some kind of reboot of the franchise. No further details were given, but it was noted that Smith "still earns hefty royalties from the 1990s NBC sitcom, now licensed to air in 193 territories."
The tentative Fresh Prince reboot adds yet another name to an already packed slate of forthcoming resuscitated franchises, including (but surely not limited to) Saved By The Bell, Daria, Making The Band, Celebrity Deathmatch, Cowboy Bebop, The Boondocks, Gossip Girl, Lizzie McGuire, Walker, Texas Ranger, The Flintstones, and probably many, many others.
