After being released from prison back in January, DMX seemed to be on a much better path to a full comeback, re-signing to Def Jam and booking a string of performances at major festivals like Rolling Loud and SXSW as part of his 20th anniversary It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot tour. Now, the rapper has made the decision to head back to rehab, according to a post on his Instagram.

“In his ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first, DMX has checked himself into a rehab facility," a member of the rapper's team wrote in the post's caption. "He apologizes for his cancelled shows and thanks his fans for their continued support.” Some of the canceled performances were set to include Three 6 Mafia's reunion concert in Memphis as well as Rolling Loud New York, which has already been fraught with its own issues after the NYPD requested the removal of a number of its performers.

It's no secret that DMX has struggled with substance abuse in the past, and he has entered rehabilitation facilities many times over the course of his career. Most recently, a 2017 rehab check-in caused him to cancel multiple shows in California and he checked into another facility later that same year while he was on house arrest for tax evasion.
