Last year, Nigerian singer Lady Donli released one of the year's most varied and exciting projects with her 15-track debut album Enjoy Your Life. Donli blended sounds of high life, neo-soul, classic afrobeat, and funk to tell stories that span from her upbringing in Nigerian capital Abuja to advocating for self-love. One of the album's most adored tracks is "Corner," a smooth number that features sister-duo VanJess and the Cavemen.

Today, the song's video, which adds beautiful cinematic context to its message is premiering on The FADER. Directed by Shaun Kalu, the video touches on issues that women are currently facing in Nigeria, like being pressured to offer sexual acts for grades at local universities. “My vision for the film was to make a melodrama, a Nollywood home video that possesses multiple layers and juxtapositions," Kalu said in a press release. "The most telling, being the intention to show that we (the younger generation) are well aware of societal and cultural issues — especially for women. I’m more than willing to inculcate that into the art." Watch the video above.
