Tanya Tagaq announces new album Tongues, shares title track

The throat singer’s new album is produced by Saul Williams and drops on March 11, 2022.

Inuk throat singer Tanya Tagaq has announced a new album Tongues and shared the project's title track. The new music is produced by Saul Williams and mixed by Gonjasurfi, and incorporates excerpts from Tagaq's 2018 novel Split Tooth.

On the album's first single, Tagaq shares lurching and defiant rejection of manifest destiny that's cognizant of certain horrors and well-prepared to gird against them. Her mission is visualized in a captivating 3D animated video from Driftnote, streaming below.

Tongues is out on March 11, 2022. On March 30, Tagaq will play a show in Toronto at Massey Hall.
