Diddy has accepted the Global Icon Award at the 2023 MTV VMAs.
Following a nostalgic medley performance featuring a number of classic hits like "It's All About the Benjamins," "Bad Boys For Life," and "I'll Be Missing You," the rapper received the honorary Moon Man from his old friend, Mary J. Blige.
On stage, Diddy called the award a "dream come true," as a kid who "grew up watching MTV [being] like, ‘Man, I wish one day I could be up there.'”
"I thought I was gonna be playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but God made another choice," he said, adding that it was a blessing to pursue his passions for the past 30 years. And part of this is obviously entrepreneurship, seeing as how he closed things out by telling everyone to buy his new record.
This Friday (September 15), Diddy will release his album The Love Album – Off The Grid. It'll feature the single "Another One of Me" featuring The Weeknd, French Montana, and 21 Savage. Last week, Diddy announced that he had relinquished the publishing rights for the entire Bad Boy catalog back to the artists.
