Doja Cat has upset some of her fans again after posting and then deleting a photo of herself wearing a shirt featuring the comedian Sam Hyde. The comic, who is seen with bleach-blonde hair and brandishing a gun on the pop star's shirt, has ties to both the alt-right and neo-Nazi movements.

As well as posting the selfie on her Instagram feed, Doja also shared it on her stories before removing both posts. She then posted a different selfie with Hyde’s image cropped out. That picture was captioned with a series of eyeroll emojis.

Hyde, 38, was a co-creator of Adult Swim’s Million Dollar Extreme Presents: World Peace before the series was canceled in 2016 amid accusations the animated series promoted racist, sexist and bigoted views. One sketch featured Hyde in blackface.

The name Sam Hyde is often posted by trolls on social media in the immediate aftermath of mass shootings, leading to the comedian being named as a suspect in incidents including a 2016 shooting at a shopping mall in Munich, Germany

In 2017 Hyde was reported to have donated $5000 to Andrew Anglin, founder of the Daily Stormer after he was sued by the Southern Poverty Law Center for his alleged harassment of a Jewish woman in Montana.

More recently, Hyde has jumped on the celebrity boxing trend, fighting TikTok influencer IAMTHMPSN in August of last year.

Doja Cat's latest album Scarlet arrived last week. In the run-up to the release she criticized her own fans repeatedly and lost 500,000 Instagram followers in the process. She compared the loss of fans to "defeating a large beast."
