Months after a fan-led “Free Sky Ferreira” campaign, the pop artist appears to have been removed from the label’s roster of current acts.

Sky Ferreira has been removed from the online roster of Capitol Records, a possible sign that the pop artist and her label have finally parted ways after years of strife. The change was first noted yesterday (November 8) by Variety.

Ferreira's relationship with Capitol has been under scrutiny over the decade-plus delay in the release of a follow-up album to her 2013 debut Night Time, My Time. Her sophomore project Masochism was officially announced in 2016 but never materialized; she has since officially released two solo songs, "Downhill Lullaby" and "Don't Forget," and guested on songs by Charli XCX, Iceage, and the Jesus and Mary Chain.

In public, Ferreira has been clear about her frustrations with Capitol. She said her new music had been "stuck at the mercy of other people" in 2017; five years later, she posted a clip of an unreleased song on Instagram, writing "I WANT TO PUT THIS OUT" over the video. “I am not a hysterical/lying/lazy lunatic," she wrote in the caption, pushing back on rumors of a difficult reputation. "This is beyond fucked up. I am so frustrated & over it.”

Fans of Ferreira purchased a billboard reading "Free Sky Ferreira" near the Capitol Records offices in August 2023. The singer approvingly reshared footage of the advertisement on her Instagram page.
