Big Boi f. Gucci Mane, “Shine Blockas” MP3

See, it’s shit like this that makes us not care about Andre 3000 ever rapping again [Ed. We definitely still care about Andre 3000 rapping.] And we could talk about how much we wanted this Big Boi album, but it’s pretty apparent our voices are falling on deaf ears. On this track, Gucci in particular is in rare form and not just cause he’s rapping over sped up Teddy P. instead of Zaytoven’s usual twankle and glisten. These are the type of flows that render already dubious “hottest rapper” lists completely irrelevant.

Big Boi f. Too Short & George Clinton, “For Your Sorrows” MP3

This song could just be Big Boi featuring a glass of water and we’d still be excited about it. But Big Boi has lately been giving up the goods for Dungeon Family fans, so he does us one better and links with living legends Too Short and George Clinton for this Organized Noize produced track. Not sure where this song will end up, but based on the breakdown that comes around three minutes in—Rico Wade and co. have been listening to a lot of Aphex Twin.

Video: Three New Gucci Mane Videos

Along with a confrontation-free Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta, this weekend brought three new Gucci Mane videos at once, which normally we’d assume to be like getting shot in the eyeballs with a lemonade-filled watergun. The clips however, though all directed by Mr. Boomtown, don’t seem to extend much further than their song titles. “I Think I Love Her,” which can be found as “White Girl” (featuring Esther Dean) on any number of Gucci mixtapes, is Gucci playing chess on an oversized board in some sort of traphouse backroom, the “her” in question being the queen piece, presumably. For “She Got A Friend,” a song featuring Juelz and Big Boi, he made a video about making a video, possibly rendering the show, Making The Video, completely obsolete. Then there’s “Photo Shoot,” a standout from Gucci’s breakout Gangsta Grillz tape, which is, unfortunately, just a photo shoot. Now it may have been that, like their bundled release, he got a three-for-one deal on the package, but with the right direction, we know what Gucci is capable of. Watch the videos for “She Got A Friend” and “Photo Shoot” after the jump.

Video: Killer Mike f. Big Boi, “My Chrome”

We read that the new Woody Allen movie is taken from a very old script—vintage New York Jew problems and bemoanings—but it was filmed in the last year. The “My Chrome” video, directed by Hype Williams, is sort of the same thing. Unreleased until now, the video for this 2005 single has a budget bigger than the deal any new rapper is getting in illegal download recession era America. The budget for the video’s actual chrome is probably bigger. The budget for the guy who polished the chrome is probably bigger.

FADER TV: Big Boi on Chico Dusty, Piranhas and Outkast

Big Boi is the only three-time FADER cover star, appearing with Andre 3K on #5 and #18 and with Killer Mike on #32 for our Purple Ribbon story. Barring another cover for Kanye or the White Stripes—not out of the question—it would be safe to say Big Boi is FADER’s #1 dude, so we were bummed when he couldn’t play the Levi’s®/FADER Fort last month because of wild time constraints. He did, however, have a moment to come sit with us and discuss what, exactly, is going on with his long-awaited solo joint Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, the future of OutKast and the pirahna movie he’s probably not starring in.

The son of Chico Dusty releases yet another single from the mysteriously unreleased Sir Luscious Left Foot. Hey LaFace, we like all these! You can let it go W-H-E-N-E-V-E-R.

Freeload: Big Boi, “Dubbz”

“Dubbz” is presumably the third single from Big Boi’s coming very soon Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. Following his duet with Mary J Blige, Big Boi comes with a car anthem that seamlessly brings the Dungeon Family sound into 2008—tuned down guitars and lazer synth shots are paired together with an occasionally voice modulated Big Boi (alternately our guess is that Playboy Tre or Andre 3000 as the caterpillar from Slimm Calhoun’s “It’s Okay” made a surprise guest appearance). MYSTERIES! We’re assuming the answer will only arrive when the album is in our hands, or alternately when we find it on the internet in like an hour.

Video: Big Boi f. Mary J. Blige “Sumthin’s Gotta Give”

Back when we first got our grubby little hands on “Sumthing’s Gotta Give”, the first single from Sir Lucious Leftfoot…Son Of Chico Dusty, we of course fell into speculative delirium about the the album’s possibility for a more serious and political undertone. These theories were put to bed last night when we got to sit down with Daddy Fat Sacks himself as he ran through the majority of the “almost finished” album. Much like Speakerboxxx (what he calls his actual “first solo album”), Sir Luscious is all over the place, from the block to the cookout to the strip club. The cameos were few, with Dre 3000 and Raekwon on one song, George Clinton and Too Short on another, and finally, TI. We also got to preview the video above, which compliments the song fittingly. We also love that even John Legend and Hill Harper were willing to volunteer for the video’s Obama campaign, or at least show up for the victory party.

As happens every couple of months, this week has given us reason to revive Outkast watercooler discussions in FADER HQ. Andre essentially put out a new song of his own with his guest spot in Fonzworth’s “Everybody” video on Wednesday, and (even though it’s been floating around in crap radio rips for a minute) we just got this crispy clean version of Big Boi’s newest song from Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty with Mary. If you’ve been sitting around looking for a TGIF joint—something to play when you’re feeling whiny about your job—this is it. Antwan and Mary both remind us that things could be a lot worse. It’s not exactly the most uplifting song we’ve ever heard, but at least it makes us want to have a drink!

The first 19 verses of this are still completely baniddles, but somewhere around oh let’s say right after Wayne’s verse it falls off the face of the Earth. And if Busta wants to become the Mr T of rap we might support that movement. Oh and Big Boi is our favorite rapper today. And also WHERE IS T-PAIN?
