Video: Ghostface Killah, “Stapleton Sex”
Well, hmm. First off, if you work in a formal, corporate, government-operated environment, or basically anywhere that is not at home or The FADER, you probably should wait til you get to the crib to pop this one in the VCR. Direct from his forthcoming R&B album, it is perhaps the nastiest song Ghost has ever written (”My slow jam dick is on Thursdays,” he explains) and paired with the aesthetics of Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! as viewed through internet era voyeurism. A fetish video with ass-clapping close-ups and ball gags—sorry Starks but you probably won’t be getting a Moon Man for this one—that makes the “Pon de Floor” video that froke out so many of our readers seem like a friendly stroll down Sesame Street. The vintage vibe doesn’t really neutralize the extraness of this footage, and we can’t decide if the video would have been less crazy if it mirrored the song (Ghost having a dirty, rough romp with his girlfriend) or if the bondage girls in the video actually tone it down. Is this sexually empowering on some Susie Bright tip, or are these ladies bound by one man’s fantasy? Is it less nasty with the sound off? We’ll probably be unpacking this one for a couple of days. All we know is, we kind of want to remind the lady in the leather catsuit to make her girlfriend delete the dirty photos off her iPhone, cause you never know where they’ll end up.

Ghost’s lead single off The Wizard of Poetry: In Emerald City has been steadily growing in our iPod’s belly over the last month and now it is about to pop out as a fat little summer jam with all its toes and fingers stuffed into a fuzzy onesie and ready rock through the park. Buy a “Baby” on iTunes now and get ready to possibly make a real one when the album drops on September 29th. Make the jump to watch the man himself explain the song itself in his inimitable style. We’re definitely too old to still feel this way, but it would be pretty great if Wu-Tang actually went around beating up jerk ninjas.

Seriously, internet to man, there better be some quiet storms on your album, Ghost, or we’re boycotting by playing Teddy Pendergrass for 17 days in a row. We got people we’re trying to get with depending on some you singing, as promised, so if you could do that it would be awesome. We took a hook-up L after hyping some croony shit on 808s that never materialized, so we need The Wizard of Poetry to be the second coming of Hot Buttered Soul or it is going to be a lonely fall. Getting Raheem Devaughn to swings some auto-tune on the hook does not count. “All That I Got Is You,” Parts 2-20. Please.

WOW it’s like when we got in the elevator to come to work this morning it was actually a time machine. This is from the forthcoming Wu-Tang record and its gritty rhythms and preponderance of actual “just rapping!” is A) a good idea and B) transports us back to the era of Ls and Triple Fat Goose (Geese?). Ghost even refers to himself as “Ghostdeini.” It’s a reminder of why Wu-Tang initially changed the game and why they are still able to rap and tour and release albums and people still care, as opposed to the laundry list of dudes who were relevant in the ’90s who are now, you know, really hoping desperately you will notice they dropped 3,475 kinda boring mixtapes last year. Bonus cut: Ghostface on “Forever” from his new solo album coming soon. Does this man ever sleep? How long will we love him? As long as he makes majorly clever romantic R&B songs: “Forever.” Ayo!

The best thing about this unexpected collab from Ghost and Ron (sounds like a bad Cosby cartoon) is how Ghostdeini can only do the whisper shit for two lines max before he’s yelling again. And it’s great because you know he planned it that way, not because it sounded like that on the first take. Young dudes take note: It’s okay to put a little thought into it sometimes.

We know it is supposed to be Summer of Love ‘09 and all, but in watching this video we’re like… is this 1995? Only Built for Cuban Linx II is coming out late this summer, so they say, and in the video for “New Wu,” a gully little shoot that involves capturing some sloppy NARC-ish dude and rapping in a hallway at a strip club (The Player’s Club), the dudes are going in on hard throwback styles. “JUMP OUTTA BENZ WAGONS, MY FAMILY LIVE IN THE HILL, THEY CALL US BIN LADENS,” so says Ghostface. Whatever happens, it’s gonna be a hot hot summer in hell.

“Criminology 09″ is good, don’t get us wrong, but listen to Rae and Ghost’s verses in the original video above and then listen to this new one. One is filled with crazy vitriol and other is like Yeah… New York Giants… Super Bowl 2008… We Like Them.

We’re actually astonished Ghost hasn’t touched this one already, but aside from it, of course, being good, what we’re really digging into is whether the dude singing auto-tuneless over the Roger Troutman hook is making some sort of meta joke or just couldn’t find an auto-tuner. Whatever the case, we wouldn’t mind hearing P-Tone do his best T-Pain someday.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II? Does anyone still care? We’re not saying you should, but Pretty Toney gets filthy on this one.
