Video: Lemonade, “Big Weekend”
- story Sam Hockley-Smith
Lemonade linked up with video director(s) Weird Days, created a dance party from old footage and dunked the entire thing in tie-dye and called it a day. It works! To be honest, every time we listen to Lemonade it feels like we’ve just entered a Sunday afternoon drum circle—immediate skepticism followed by an uncontrollable urge to just get into it. Maybe we’ll grow a ponytail and wear some patchwork pants. No pretensions over here.
Lemonade, “Big Weekend (L-Vis 1990 RMX)” MP3
This dude, the so-called “L-Vis 1990,” is sort of the scourge of the universe. He is making it really hard to listen to any music that is not made by him, particularly for those of us who are dancefloor killas. Because he is apparently spastic and rad and knows his way around a remix (and WHAT) and a wicked drum pattern, also because he makes cramazing videos. This Lemonade remix is a study in looped batcave drumrolls and placing a synth hammer at exactly the right point, economical and impactful. It’s like deep-sea mindspiral diving.

Exclusive Freeload: Lemonade, “Blissout”
- story THE FADER
We’ve seen the music that San Francisco’s Lemonade makes described as psych rock, disco and psych-disco among a whole bunch of other descriptors that don’t actually tell us what Lemonade sounds like. We’ve listened to “Blissout,” from their self-titled debut out now on True Panther Sounds, like ten times in a row, and have decided that trying to describe what it sounds like in vague terms is pointless. Instead, we’re going to tell you that at about 2:52, “Blissout” erupts into the most fun drum circle ever. For more Lemonade go here, and look out for their upcoming tour with El Guincho.
