Major Lazer f. Ricky Blaze & Nina Sky, “Keep It Goin’ Louder (Diplo Remix)” MP3

There is no doubt Diplo will one day just remix remixes of remixes of his own songs until he has to just release shit and name it “Diplo” to keep from breaking the internet. And it won’t break. The songs will all sound different—like this one sounds a little like Brick Bandits—and will only be available as lolcats embeds on YouTube. And some day, maybe ten years from now, this site, and your site and Google and everywhere else will be known as Diplolz and Google Wave will look the Bill of Rights in comparison. This is how the end begins, with one extra hot remix of one super duper club jam while people are seriously worrying about Obama’s Peace Prize and global warming. Wake up, World!

Video: Major Lazer f. Nina Sky and Ricky Blaze, “Keep it Goin’ Louder”

Not sure if it’s too Hipster Runoff to say that this video for Major Lazer’s candy-cane-sweet freestyle bumper “Keep it Goin’ Louder” looks super fun. Could just be the animated zombies, but it could also be that Nina Sky and Ricky Blaze together is an unstoppable outer borough dream team. But it’s October—this is a summer jam! Though they surely could not wait to bust out the ridiculousness of the “Pon De Floor” video, that’s so much more a creepy autumn song, like Icabod Crane produced the drums in his secret Sleepy Hollow studio. But “Keep it Goin’ Louder”’s rah-rah spirit is indeed seasonally non-denominational—clubs are open when it is cold out, and there’s always next summer’s block parties and parades. Plus, the internet (where this video lives exclusively on NME’s site) is essentially a frozen state. Or maybe an overheated one, always toasty.

Studio Time with MNDR

Right now MNDR is our favorite electronic pop singer/producer and gear head who crafts effervescent jams we simply cannot shake from our brains while posting the deepest, nerdiest, most pocket protectorly posts about synthesizers on her blog. When she’s not performing her “Pon de Floor” remix with Major Lazer at our parties or playing with addictive Oakland mind-gardeners tRIANGLE, she’s recording her debut album in a Chelsea studio with her colleague Peter Wade. We stopped by to hear some amazing new songs and talk to the duo about synths, patches, grindcore and unicorns.

The ABSOLUT FADER Visionary Podcast #1 — Doing

Welcome to the first Visionary Podcast, curated by The FADER and presented by ABSOLUT, as part of our ongoing efforts to advance and advocate the art and music we love. With these words—Doing Things Differently Leads to Something Exceptional—and accompanying awesome visual interpretations of those words by director Rupert Sanders as inspiration, we set about scouring our music libraries for the new songs that are doing it for us the most these days. The first of these podcasts is loosely associated with the word and image for “Doing.” Doing anything basically, but as The FADER is known to do, we decided to make it mostly about having a good time—going surfing, hanging out with friends and romances, and of course, dancing your face off. Below, download the Visionary Podcast #1 with music from Smith Westerns, The Drums, Major Lazer, Washed Out and Hudson Mohawke. Check the tracklist after the jump, and come back in one week for #2, inspired by Things.

Jack Beats, “Get Down (VIP Edit)” MP3 / SF: Win Jack Beats Tix

London club bandits Jack Beats just dropped their UFO EP yesterday and to celebrate, they’re going on tour with a smattering of dates on the West Coast this weekend. “Get Down” is the flashy, heavily adorned house single from that track, replete with fantasy crystal bells and wobble synths that may possibly break your brain with the maximalism right after you dance your face off. Phew, somebody get us an angioplasty! We’re dying for these dudes to hit New York (October 10 with Major Lazer, Crookers and Rusko, which is also going to be the day that we finally end up killing ourselves raving). Until then, they’re making their San Francisco debut with our Dubsided fave Sticky K, and as ever we got the hook-up on tickets. If you’re tryna win that, and you should (try), email jackbeats@hacksawent.com, write THE FADER in the subject line, and tell them your best story about almost raving yourself to an early end. For everybody else in SF, flyer and details after the jump!

Major Lazer f. Prince Zimboo & MIA, “Baby (Switch RMX)” MP3

This track is a short, powerful burst of autotune baby, sparse rhythm and Prince Zimboo’s “heh” as a counter-rhythm, which sounds awesome, though not sure we really needed to hear him talking about breast milk before MIA’s politically charged treatise and heart-hurting confessional about growing up without a pops. MIA gets multiple daps for repping single moms, and “Baby,” off the Major Lazer Mishka mix (and Prince Zimboo’s Facebook page), proves MIA, Switch and Diplo remain the most powerful trio of all the potential Major Lazer combos (you probably found this by googling), their collective intensity fitting together like global diaspora Tetris. Sidebar: MIA’s kid in Henry Holland (above) is just like, the cutest shit ever.

Video: Major Lazer, “Pon De Floor”

Like the song, the video for Switch and Diplo’s acid wash dancehall experiment, Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor,” does not make very much sense—but in a good way, like extreme jet lag or Sam Jackson in Unbreakable. The Eric Wareheim (of Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job) directed video is a dayglo explosion sequel to his “Parisian Goldfish” for Flying Lotus, with the two dancers/humpers expanded (and now including Skerrit Bwoy!) and given a suburban home to run around in aimlessly, like malfunctioned, horny and frightened Sims.

Major Lazer Essential Mix MP3

As if we haven’t talked enough about Major Lazer around here lately, the dudes are back with an Essential mix for BBC Radio 1 that features a lot of music they were probably jamming when making their album, which for Switch was apparently the sort of reggae-influenced “All That She Wants” by Ace of Base, a live staple from Major Lazer’s shows, and for Diplo, some Black Eyed Peas. And a bunch of other really good stuff.

Exclusive: Sticky K, “Sweet n’ Sticky Summer Mix” MP3

Bay Area producer/DJ Sticky K whipped up this mix of his hottest remixes and original tracks especially for us—a healthy sampling of his mastery of synths you can bite into, and the kind of creative drummy reworking that landed him a coveted spot in Switch’s heart (and on his label). This mix includes his take on Major Lazer, Crookers, Larry Tee and Drop the lime, plus his own tracks—the single “Bandari Funk” has had a crucial spot in our workouts as of late, and he recently broke down the Persian origins of Bandari (and his cheeky reference to it) over at Generation Bass. On the “Sweet n’ Sticky” mix though, the historical falls away for the purely visceral, house crunches whipping into a heavy bass frenzy. Tracklist after the jump.
