Silk Flowers experiments plenty with pure instrumentals on their new album Ltd. Form, giving vocalist Aviram Cohen's vicegrip deadpan a rest on a few tracks. It's much needed, too. A voice like his needs a vacation every now and then, a chance to recharge to offer its full effect. FYI, Aviram, we hear Mariah Carey stays out of air conditioning, gargles salt water, and doesn't speak all day before a show. Nonetheless, perhaps missing the sweet sound of a vocal layered on top of Silk Flowers' misty synths, Nite Jewel's produced a mix that adds some of their own trills, turning the original's slow, instrumental loneliness, a song without a voice, into a livelier disco hit.
