SL Jones, “Gas Station” (Prod. by Young L) MP3

December 14, 2011

Killer Mike's 2006 double-CD I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind was one of the best rap records that year, and album highlight "I'ma Shine" helped introduce the world to SL Jones. A member of Mike's Grind Time Rap Gang and Little Rock, Arkansas native, Jones has a natural rapper's voice, his tone casual and unperturbed no matter how energetic his performance. He went on to release one of the most promising mixtapes of 2008 (C.O.L.O.R.S.) and seemed to operate under the radar for a few years before staging a comeback in 2011 with a series of loose tracks and two mixtapes, The Number 23 and today's Flight Risk, a ten-track release that can be downloaded for free at Jones' website. Lead single "Gas Station" includes slow, bass-squirting production from Young L.
