Emile Haynie Rallies Dev Hynes, Charlotte Gainsbourgh and Sampha for “A Kiss Goodbye”

The award-winning producer steps out on his own, but not without help.

August 26, 2014

It seems that Emile Haynie is preparing to step out on his own, but not without help. Today the producer, who is one of Lana Del Rey's go-to's as well as the guy behind Eminem and Sia's recent "Guts Over Fear," released a song of his own called "A Kiss Goodbye." The downcast ballad is bolstered by Dev Hynes (on the guitar), Charlotte Gainsbourg (with the storm of background vocals) and Sampha, who delivers some of the most lovesick -- and perhaps loathing, as they way it repeats makes it sound like he's casting a curse -- refrain we've heard in a minute: Did it ever occur that you forgave yourself before I did? Did it ever occur before I could?
