Lifetime has released the first trailer for their beleaguered Baby Girl biopic, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.The thirty-second preview gives us our first glimpse of Nickelodeon brat Alexandra Shipp, who appears to have the attitude and abs necessary to play the title-role. It also includes brief scenes with Aaliyah's mother, Diane Haughton (played by Rachael Crawford), and her producer and champion, Timbaland (Izaak Smith). All fine. Less so? It is backed by Iggy Azalea's "Goddess," presumably because the Haughton family has pushed back against the made-for-television film at every opportunity, making it nearly impossible to license an actual Aaliyah song. At least its apt in title? Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B premieres on November 15th.
