Lifetime's controversial Aaliyah biopic has finally received an air date. Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, which was adapted from Christopher Farley's biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman, will premiere on Saturday, November 15, the network revealed today. The movie has had issues since it was first announced in June. Protests from fans and the late star's family – who felt that a made-for-television movie would be an inadequate tribute – drove the movie's first-cast lead, Disney's Zendaya Coleman, to drop out and temporarily halting production. Coleman was eventually replaced by Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp, and Wendy Williams joined as executive producer. “You can count on us to get this movie right,” Williams assured, but we'll just have to wait and see.
