This Die Antwoord Dub Will Remind You Why The Teletubbies Were So Creepy

It’s the glassy eyes.

There was always something off about the Teletubbies. With their emotionless faces and glassy-eyed stares, I've always felt like they were a pernicious influence on developing children, and now I understand why. Las Vegas-based video editor Robert Jones went through 30 Teletubbies episodes to create this delightfully uncomfortable mashup of Teletubbies clips set to Die Antwoord's "I Fink U Freeky," with the anthropomorphic video-screen-wearing creatures getting down to Yolandi Visser's warbling voice.

"The Teletubbies are most known for being weird and a bit creepy so I wanted to find a song to accentuate that," Jones said in an email to the FADER. "I recently discovered Die Antwoord's videos on YouTube and was instantly fascinated by them. Listening to the Teletubbies speak, I couldn't help but notice how much Yonandi Visser sounded like one, and that sold me on it. Most people don't understand or pay attention the lyrics, but the chorus of 'I fink you freeky and I like you a lot' was right in line with the idea I had of doing a demented kids' show music video. [Visser] even has a line where she says, 'We can have a nice time kids.'"
