BOYPLAIN Is The Bangkok-Based Brand You Need for Fall

Avant-garde menswear with playful twists.

October 27, 2015

Drawing on inspiration from the classic fashions of 1950's Americana and Ivy League colleges, BOYPLAIN presents its Fall/Winter 2015 collection, "HEARTTHROBS," which is way cooler than either of those things. The Thailand-based brand is a young one founded just three years ago by two friends, Boripat Singkeaw and Tewit Phanitprachaya (better known as Nutt and Benz). BOYPLAIN describes its aesthetic as drawing on "youth, masculinity, playfulness and simplicity in an ever-modern context". That rings especially true of their latest Fall/Winter collection, "HEARTTHROBS." "HEARTTHROBS" plays on all these themes, incorporating the brand's signature style of box-edged designs and sharp tailoring. Reinterpreted Ivy League emblem and badge details make appearances atop varsity jackets, t-shirts, and sweaters all while maintaining a collegiate color palette that ranges from crimson red to cobalt blue, and from black to white. Plaids and stripes accentuate cropped trousers and shirts whose fabrics were handpicked from the designers range from cotton, fine jersey, twill, and knit. The fresh take on traditional American looks is one that certainly makes the "HEARTTHROB" collection a case for the foreign brand's long stay in the states.
