Lauryn Hill Is Rumored To Be Performing With The Weeknd At Tonight’s Grammys

Update: A rep for Hill responds and says it was unable to happen because of “its last minute nature.”

Lauryn Hill holds a special place in Grammy history: along with Outkast, she is the only hip-hop-fluent act to win the Album Of The Year award. New rumors have surfaced suggesting that she will join the Weekend during his performance at tonight's event.

Hill's presence at the Grammys tonight would be notable, since Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly is nominated in the Album Of The Year category this year and has received the most nominations this year. Outkast won it in 2004, while Hill took the honor back in 1999.

Representatives of Hill and the Weeknd were not immediately available for comment. Complex pointed out that one of Hill's musicians Instagrammed a photo of a private jet along with the caption, "heading to the Grammys!!!"

Update (9:56 p.m.): A rep for Lauryn Hill emails The FADER a statement:

"The Grammys announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval. Ms. Hill had concerts all weekend, leaving no time to prepare, and was uncertain she would even be able to make it to LA in time to rehearse for the event. Any performance that could have happened was never confirmed, and should not have been advertised as such. Ms. Hill was invited to do a collaboration with an artist she appreciates. The performance was intended to be a surprise and unfortunately due to its last minute nature, was unable to come to fruition."
