Virgil Abloh Teams Up With Levi’s For An Avant-Garde Denim Collection

Kanye West’s old pal is picking up where the 501 left off.

June 06, 2016

Fashion's avant-garde has made no secret of its recent infatuation with repurposed, reconstructed denim — a style CR Fashion Book has dubbed "directional.” Take Eckhaus Latta's washed and folded bright blue denim, or Vetements cut and pasted take on deadstock swatches. Now, Virgil Abloh's label Off-White has teamed up Levi's Made and Crafted for a collection picking up where traditional denim left off. So far we've only been treated to a single preview, a boxy denim jacket styled off one shoulder, fashioned out of light-wash, raw-edged denim that has been dipped, partway, in bright yellow print. The collection will be especially small: just 50 pairs of each denim style and 100 T-shirts, so, as CR puts it, "you'll want to get on this waiting list." In the meantime, revisit The FADER's 2014 interview with Virgil Abloh.
