Watch Weaves’s Jasmyn Burke Turn Her Face Into A Canvas For The Band’s “Shithole” Video
Their debut album is out now.
"Shithole" is a fun, grungy song about a life that's falling apart, and for its video Weaves have placed its frontwoman Jasmyn Burke front and center for a series of sloppy and hilarious cosmetology experiments. It's what Sinéad O'Connor's iconic "Nothing Compares 2 You" would have looked like if that crew had access to a bunch of wigs and a digital projector.
"We shot this video on a hot summer's day with no AC in the Coffin Factory Lofts in Toronto," Burke told The FADER over email. "Sweaty and intimate. Visually it's sort of the build up and break down of myself through the different looks. I wrote the song when I was living in a shitty place and was feeling kind of down, but the mysterious thing is I have no recollection of writing it. I found it on my computer one day and had thought I must have sent it to Morgan but I hadn't. So we essentially did the demo the day after I re-discovered the track and were playing it live soon after."
