Crenshaw’s self-titled debut album is out January 27.

Barclay Crenshaw is the real name of Claude VonStroke, the renowned house DJ who has charged up his new song "The Real X Files" with a hybrid jungle energy. The clip's video, premiering today on The FADER, stars the song's vocalist Lady Chann, also known at one point as "the UK's number one dancehall queen," as the regal looking wanderer of an alien landscape. Her only company? Some frantic shape-shifting level meters.

Crenshaw told The FADER over email how the song came together. “I was in London last fall, and I ended up with an extra day there because I was supposed to play Fabric and it had just gotten shut down. I had this beat that had a jungle, almost drum-n-bass vibe, and one of my managers in the UK sent me some music from Lady Chann to see if I thought her voice would work with it. She was in town at the time too, so we rented space in this studio called Strong Room. She came in and, right away, just started writing. We made it happen super quickly and she totally captured the vibe I was going for.”

Barclay Crenshaw's self-titled debut album is out January 27. Preorder it here.
