The official death toll from the devastating fire at London's Grenfell Tower this week is currently at 17, but is expected to rise much higher. The first two people to be confirmed dead are 24-year-old artist Khadija Saye, and Syrian refugee al-Haj Ali.

Saye was a photographer whose work explored themes of home, ritual, and spirituality. In the past she has photographed series based around black hair, and a raucous night at the infamous, now-closed London cabaret bar Madame Jojo's.

Her latest work, Dwelling: in this space we breathe, is described by Saye's website as "a series of wet plate collodion tintypes that explores the migration of traditional Gambian spiritual practices and the deep rooted urge to find solace within a higher power." It is currently on display at the Venice Biennale, until November 2017. See some excerpts from the series above and below.
