According to Variety, production for the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody halted because of a "health matter" concerning director-producer Bryan Singer. “Twentieth Century Fox Film has temporarily halted production on ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ due to the unexpected unavailability of Bryan Singer,” Fox announced.
Rami Malek plays the Queen singer in the film, with production taking place in the U.K. The "personal health matter concerning Bryan and his family" puts a pause on a film that has been in the works for 12 years. Following a laundry list of producers, directors, and leads, Singer and Malek decided to take over the job in late 2016.
It’s unclear whether the delay will postpone the film’s release, slated for December 25, 2018.
