Aziz Ansari and Sterling K. Brown both took home Golden Globes from Sunday night's ceremony, making history in the process. Brown picked up his award for his role in the tear-jerking This Is Us, becoming the first black actor to win a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV drama. Master Of None co-creator Ansari, meanwhile, is now the first Asian American actor to win for best leading performance in a TV comedy.

Brown was the only black actor nominated in his category and referenced his race in his powerful acceptance speech. "What I appreciate so much about this thing is that I'm being seen for who I am and being appreciated for who I am," he said. "And it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or dismiss anybody who looks like me."

Ansari, meanwhile, was mainly shocked to win as "all the websites said I was going to lose." Master of None returned to Netlfix for a second season in 2016. Ansari also thanked Italy, where a large portion of the episodes were set, for “all the amazing food.”
