Jordan Peele describes Chance the Rapper’s reaction to Get Out

“They stood for the rest of the film.”

Jordan Peele received the African American Film Critics Association Awards for Best Picture and Best Director for Get Out last night. During an acceptance speech, seen above, he talked about some of his favorite audience reactions, including one from Chance the Rapper, who hosted a private screening of the film with friends just before its release.

"You know, there's so much tension in the movie, so much stress to put the audience through," Peele told the crowd. "By the time he starts getting out, it's cathartic. When he gores Bradley Whitford with those antlers, Chance and his friends just stood up, just: 'Oh!' They stood for the rest of the film."

The AAFCA Award winners were announced in December. Get Out also won for Best Screenplay, and Daniel Kaluuya was named Best Actor for his role as Chris.
