Missy Elliott and Lady Gaga are Jennifer Lopez’s picks for the 2019 VMA Vanguard

Today MTV revealed that Jennifer Lopez will receive the 2018 VMA Video Vanguard award, following Pink, Rihanna and Kanye West. She'll perform at this year's show on August 20, but ahead of that, one question remains: who could next year's winner be? Lopez was asked during an MTV Facebook livestream, and fans in the audience had plenty of suggestions.

However, two names in particular stood out. "Missy's a great one, 'cause her videos were always so cutting-edge," Lopez said. "Yes, her and Gaga I think would be good ones." Watch the clip below, and then read our take on why Missy Elliott is long overdue for her Vanguard award.
