8 NYFW shows we’re stoked to see
From show-stopping performances to reimagined classics, NYFW delivers it all.
The start of September has a few constants: the last licks of summer, the buzz of back-to-school mentality, and New York Fashion Week. The sartorial ritual takes over the city every year, setting into motion a new cycle of trends that will trickle down throughout fashion for the rest of the year, and below, you’ll find the top runways we’re waiting to see with bated breath.
1. Pyer Moss
Always freaky yet effortlessly cool, NYC-based Vaquera keeps audiences on their toes with runway shows that match the essence of its designs, all chaos and cheeky attitudes.
3. Kim Shui
As far as originality goes, no one is doing it like Luar. Designer Raul Lopez constantly transforms our ingrained sartorial concepts — like his first stab at haute couture bridal this summer — and instills a sense of fluidity to his designs. Lopez has already captured the attention of boundary-breaking style icons like Solange, and his spring runway is sure to deliver on the momentum.
5. Sies Marjan
With a tight grasp on vibrant colors across its last spring and fall collections, we're excited to see what the CFDA's Emerging Talent winner Sies Marjan has in store this September.
Melody Lin has imbued her line YǍJUN with a sense of rebellion — statement coats, deconstructed suits, and a electrifying clashing of the masculine and feminine — making her upcoming runway and collection ones to watch.
At first glance, designer Prisca Franchetti's PRISCAVera could be mistaken for just breezy slips and separates. But with its standout, retro prints and elegantly tailored feminine silhouettes, the collections are both effervescent and wearable as hell.
8. Mathew Adams Dolan
Matthew Adams Dolan subverts workwear, churning out pristine constructions of suits and denim that have made him a style go-to for Rihanna. His last two collections went heavy on oversized silhouettes with a preppy flair, and we're eager to see what his latest transformations on the traditional will entail.
