Facebook removes page set up to discredit Surviving R. Kelly contributors
A page titled “Surviving Lies” was created in response to the Lifetime documentary series.
A Facebook page attempting to discredit R. Kelly's accusers, and reveal personal information about them, has been removed by the social media site. "Surviving Lies" was taken down on Monday after being set-up in response to the Lifetime documentary series, Surviving R. Kelly.
Various reports suggest that "Surviving Lies" was established by Kelly's team, though that has yet to be confirmed. It included personal criticism of Kelly accuser Asante McGee, including details of her arrest record and allegations that she is attempting to extort the R&B singer.
Both BuzzFeed and TMZ received the following statement from Facebook: “The Page violated our Community Standards and has been removed. We do not tolerate bullying or sharing someone’s private contact information and take action on content that violates our policies as soon as we’re aware.”
Since Surviving R. Kelly began airing earlier this year Chance The Rapper has said he regrets working with the Chicago artist while John Legend labeled him a "serial child rapist."
Kelly denies all of the accusations made against him and has allegedly threatened Lifetime with a lawsuit over the documentary.
