Gangster Doodle is the anonymous artist behind Gangster Doodles, a collection of cute pop culture doodles drawn on Post-It notes and compiled into one massive tome. He'll follow that up with the compilation Gangster Music Vol. 1, featuring brand new music from an auspicious selection of artists like Kaytranada, Father, Madlib, and many more. Today, The FADER's got the premiere of one of the mixtape's stand-out tracks, "Brain Of The Ape" by Quelle Chris.

In 2018, The Detroit rapper followed his excellent solo album Being You Is Great, I Wish I Could Be You More Often with Everything's Fine, his collaboration with Jean Grae and one of 2018's most critically lauded rap projects. "Brain Of The Ape" doesn't miss a beat – Chris continues to create music that demands repeat listens thanks to bars stuffed with a reckless charisma and accessible pedigree.

“I wanted to make something as animated as GDs artwork," Quelle Chris said of his new song in an email. "From the beat to the bars. The title comes from some dumb shit some dumbass said to Hari Kondabolu on IG that I found funny and decided to flip for those that fancy the idea of evolution. The idea of not giving a shit what people think about you, evolving and still retaining the qualities that define you at your core. Also I just wanted to make something colder than all my peers on the album cause I like a lil friendly competition.”
