Chicago police are now reportedly looking to interview Jussie Smollett again after learning new information in the actor's recent attack, Billboard points out.

Chicago PD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that law enforcement has reached out to Smollett's attorney's for a follow-up due to a "shift" in the trajectory of the investigation, the Associated Press reports.. The reported shift comes after CPD interviewed two suspects who were potentially connected to the case late last week. Law enforcement have yet to receive an answer from Smollett's camp, however.

Guglielmi also refused to comment on recent reports that the attack on Smollett was staged — based on information from unnamed police sources. “We’re not confirming, denying or commenting on anything until we can talk to him and we can corroborate some information that we’ve gotten,” Guglielmi said.

Chicago police are now reportedly looking to interview Jussie Smollett again after learning new information regarding the actor's ongoing attack case, Billboard points out.

Anthony Guglielmi — Chief Communications Officer for the Chicago PD — said that law enforcement has reached out to Smollett's attorney's for a follow-up due to a "shift" in the trajectory of the investigation, the Associated Press reports. The reported shift comes after CPD interviewed two suspects who were potentially connected to the case late last week. The two men were subsequently released without charges by law enforcement after being questioned on Friday.

Guglielmi also declined to comment on recent reports that the attack on Smollett was staged. “We’re not confirming, denying or commenting on anything until we can talk to him and we can corroborate some information that we’ve gotten,” Guglielmi said.

Smollett's lawyers have since released statements refuting claims that the attack was a hoax. “Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying,” attorneys Todd Pugh and Victor P. Henderson said.

Spokespersons for Smollett have yet to comment on whether or not the actor has agreed to an interview.
