The nominees for the 2019 Country Music Awards have been revealed, and Lil Nas X's country-rap hit "Old Town Road (Remix)" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus did not make the cut for any of the ceremony's major awards. Despite spending a record-setting 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song was not nominated for "Song of the Year" or "Single of the Year." In fact, the track has only been nominated for "Musical Event of the Year."

"Old Town Road" exploded into the popular consciousness after a controversy over its removal from Billboard's Country Music chart. Billboard said in a statement on March 27 that the song "does not embrace enough elements of today's country music to chart in its current version."
