Hanzo is the latest singer-songwriter to be signed by Atlanta label, Awful Records and ,yesterday, the imprint released the video for his latest single, "Blue Toes," featuring 6 Dogs. The two frequent collaborators combine to make a somber, staring out the window while it drizzles, type anthem. What stands out about Hanzo's production is his patience, the layering and construction of his beats take time to fully flesh out, enveloping you along the way. Together the young Atlanta talents craft music that revels in moments like being high in a Waffle House or driving somewhere just to be in the car. This song — which feels like skipping class to meet up with a crush, only to get curved — is no exception.
“6 and I had just both gotten back from vacations and actually had blue polish on our toes unplanned when we linked up to make tracks," Hanzo explained to The FADER over email. "Naturally we had to write about it. We really just wanted to capture that feeling of just having fun and not really caring." You can watch the video in full above.
