In the three days since the release of his ninth studio album Jesus Is King, Kanye West has pleased the Church of Satan, performed with Clipse and Kenny G at a Sunday Service, and seen his album's accompanying film bring in over $1 million at the box office. It's little surprise, then, that most people missed West making baseless and baffling claims to radio host Big Boy on Friday. This time, as VICE's Susan Rinkunas wrote this afternoon, West was asked how he would respond to the allegation that he'd "turned [his] back on [...] Black people." He responded by saying that Democrats were forcing Black Americans into abortions and, seemingly, that this was reducing the power of Black voters.
“We’re brainwashed out here, bro," West said around the 10:20 mark. "Come on, man. This is a free man talking. Democrats had us voting [for] Democrats with food stamps for years. What are you talking about? Guns in the 80s, taking the fathers out the home, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort our children…Thou shall not kill."
As Rinkunas points out, the confounding and — again — utterly baseless claim has already spread to right-wing hubs like The Daily Wire and Students for Life, who are holding West up as an honest, clear-headed spokesperson — just as many far-right pseudo-intellectuals did when West first came out in support of Donald Trump.
