Having got her break as a YouTube sensation, Tate McRae should be amply prepared for the anticipated TikTok hype for the choreography in her new video "stupid." The Calgary, Alberta singer, songwriter, and dancer releases the video which takes place at a sleepover that goes wrong.
McRae can't help but get caught up in her thoughts about a boy ("Only think about him on the weekdays and weekends/Only in the mornings and evenings/Only when I wake up and sleep in/...Oh my God"), despite knowing he's one the source of bad habit after another.
In an email, McRae went over the range of detail that went into the video: "From the lyrics, to choreography, to dancers, to the overall vibe; it takes you through the emotions of how a lot of people feel in this situation. "
"stupid" is off of her debut EP (all the things i never said) released last month. McRae is on tour in April. Check out her full schedule and ticket details here.
