Miley Cyrus has announced that her Australian bushfire relief concert featuring Lil Nas X and The Veronicas, set to happen this Friday March 13th, will no longer go ahead due to fears over coronavirus. The one-off show was announced last month as a benefit for communities affected by the recent spate of devastating Australian bushfires.

“Due to the recommendations of local, state, federal and international government authorities, including the Centre for Disease Control, to reduce potential health risks in response to the current global health crisis, we are no longer traveling to Aus for the show,” she wrote on Twitter. “I am so disappointed to not be there, but I have to do what is right to protect the health and safety of my band and crew. I will still be making a donation to help the victims of the Australian bush fire.” Fans who purchased tickets to the show will receive a refund at the point of sale.

The Cyrus concert is one of many large-scale events to have been affected by the COVID-19 virus. Austin, TX music festival SXSW recently announced that it was cancelling its 2020 event, and mega festival Coachella, headlined by Rage Against The Machine and Frank Ocean, is reportedly being postponed to October this year.
