Playboi Carti is finally back. "@ MEH," his first official release in almost two years, hit streaming services on Thursday afternoon. It's everything you might expect and hope for from a Carti song in 2020: jetsonmade's production is playful and euphoric, Carti uses his voice more as a percussive instrument than a vehicle for his lyrics, and after its three minutes are up you'll want to loop it for an hour or so.
Though "@ MEH" is Carti's first proper release since Die Lit in 2018, a host of leaks have found their way onto the internet. There's still no news on Whole Lotta Red, his long-teased follow-up LP. “I could be done [with the album] if I wanted to," he told The FADER in his cover story last year. "I’m just trying to top shit. I might make the hardest song ever tomorrow.” The release of "@ MEH" suggests he might finally be satisfied with his work.
