FKA twigs shared the cinematic visuals for "Sad Day" on Friday, the latest single from her album MAGDALENE. Directed by Hiro Murai, known for his work with Donald Glover on Atlanta and Guava Island, the video sees twigs flying and wielding a sword in a duel through the empty streets of London. From there, the lines around reality start to get a bit blurry.

According to a press release, twigs underwent three years of swordsmanship training in the art of Wushu under the guidance of Master Wu of the Shaolin Wushu Centre. “Everything I’ve previously done with my body, all the training, and dancing, has led to this point,” the singer explained.

Most recently, she teamed up with rapper 645AR on the track “Sum Bout U,” also sharing her support of a sex work mutual funds fundraiser alongside the video's release.
