One of the most intriguing experimental albums of 2019 came from LA Timpa, who shared a beguiling work called Equal Amounts Afraid. Outsider folk music that occasionally stole a glance at the world of pop, the record felt more like a deep artistic indulgence than any intentional act of resistance against current trends. On November 20, Timpa will share a new album called Modern Antics In a Deserted Place, and today we have a music video for its lead single "Quarterback." Directed by Kathryn Tompkins, the visual imagines a hellish Facetime call with sinister glitches to match. It's an appropriate clip considering Timpa's haunted, beseeching vocals over a song that gets progressively more distressed. Watch above.
